Job Overview
Plans and administers physical therapy programs for patients to restore function, relieve pain, prevent disability following injury or disease within scope of practice.
Responsibilities- Essential Functions:
Selects, administers, and interprets assessment tools as designated in competency expectations including History, Screening, Observations, and Evaluations as appropriate to patients. - Identifies and prioritizes time-realistic functional goals for remediation, compensation, adaptation or prevention of deficits.
- Selects, utilizes and evaluates the effectiveness of appropriate treatment methods as designated in competency expectations.
- Applies principles of activity analysis for grading physical, perceptual/cognitive and psychosocial demands to produce an optimal mesh of child s or family s abilities to meet environmental demand.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the team in oral and written formats in both formal and non-formal situations.
- Assists in training others as designated in competency expectations (staff, PTAs, aides, and students).
- Takes responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation in relation to clinical performance.
- Actively contributes to improvement plans and effectively utilizes feedback.
- Meets competency expectations in explaining symptoms, prognosis and functional limitations for a variety of diagnostic groups.
- Makes discharge recommendations appropriate to the child and family in consideration of prognosis, role expectations, and knowledge of community resources (as designated in competency expectations).
- Meets minimum annual expected volumes.
- Direct contact with patients, families, nursing, therapists and other health and education professionals; may also include community groups and universities.
- Assigns work to and follows up for satisfactory completion of duties of physical therapy assistants, aides, orthotics technicians and assists with student training.
- Physical Therapy Degree from an accredited program
- NJ Physical Therapy License
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification
- Tact, initiative and judgment in the performance of duties
- Physical stamina for lifting and therapeutic handling of patients
- Doctoral Degree
- Completion of a pediatric affiliation
- NJ Physical Therapy License
- American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider Certification
- Per Diem
