The Role
U.S. Pipe is seeking a 2nd shift Electrician to join our team. This position is responsible for inspecting, repairing, installing, and wiring all electrical apparatus, devices, and circuits, of any voltage in the plant or assigned area.
Responsibilities- Receives wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done.
- Analyzes drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment, determine material needs, and determine a logical approach to troubleshooting and repair problems.
- Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job.
- Considers safety precautions and proper isolation of circuits to minimize interference to operations.
- Determines necessary tools and equipment.
- Plans and performs work requiring knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specifications, codes, materials, and equipment operation and application.
- Locates sources of trouble by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation.
- Dismantles, inspects, repairs, adjusts, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, electronic devices, etc.
- Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Performs work on hot lines as required.
- Replaces coils, resistors, rheostats, relays, etc.; adjusts contractors, relays, bus rigging, etc.; reconnects terminal leads, panels, boards and distribution feeders.
- In emergencies, shunts out defective coils to restore operation.
- Changes DC motor characteristics by shunting DC coils, etc.
- Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls, and fixtures, and wires all types of electrical equipment for new installations or replacements.
- Makes all required splices and connector joints. Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics.
- Works in a safe and efficient manner and keeps the work area clean and orderly.
- Performs any other duty assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum of 3 years of electrical work experience or successful completion of an electronics curriculum from an accredited program.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams and drawings.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical problems.
- Computer experience is desired; PLC experience required.
- Ability to wire motor control circuits and push-button circuits.
