Job SummaryThe Assistant Store Manager works closely with the Store Manager to oversee all day‑to‑day store operations, maintain store conditions, manage product quality, and ensure inventory accuracy. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant is the primary decision maker and responsible for meeting service, sales, and profit targets.
Key Responsibilities- Manage front‑end operations, direct team members to meet service levels, and oversee cash management.
- Develop and implement weekly work schedules and hiring plans for all Food Maxx team members.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and resolve inventory issues; audit product quality and maintain date integrity.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide coaching, and manage the in‑store training program.
- Recruit, interview, and select new team members.
- Promote two‑way communication with customers and staff to drive improvement and high morale.
- Support sales goals, analyze profitability data, and recommend actions to control expenses and maximize profits.
- Supervise product recalls, cleanliness, maintenance, and serve as the store point of contact for regulatory inspections.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation, safety, security, and legal mandates.
- Excellent leadership, team building, and interpersonal skills.

- Basic computer skills and knowledge of relevant retail systems.

Four‑year college degree or equivalent knowledge gained through formal education, certification (e.g., RMCP), specialized retail training, or additional grocery retail experience (a plus).
ExperienceMinimum of two years of management or leadership experience.
OtherMust be available to work varied retail hours.
Physical RequirementsRequires standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, and use of stairs; lifting up to 40 lbs. without assistance; ability to reach, pull, and lift objects.
