DCS Engineering are looking for an experienced Technical Buyer to join our clients dynamic manufacturing procurement team. This role plays a key part in sourcing materials, goods, and services to support efficient and cost-effective operations.
Key Responsibilities- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate sourcing.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on capability, quality, delivery, and reliability.
- Manage day-to-day procurement activity to meet MRP demands and ensure on‑time delivery.
- Lead price and contract negotiations to secure favourable terms, costs, and schedules.
- Create and manage purchase orders in line with company policies and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and resolve queries efficiently.
- Drive cost‑saving and supply chain optimisation initiatives to support business objectives.
- Monitor supplier performance, manage risk, and address issues related to material quality, delivery, or pricing.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of procurement systems and processes.
- Proven experience as a Technical Buyer within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and MRP systems (ERP experience required).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Degree or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline (preferred).
- Experience in a global industry role is advantageous.
- Up to £50,000 per annum + bonus & benefits
