Title:
Math Resource Teacher
Classification:
Non-Exempt, Part-time
Reports to:
Care Team Liaison, Care Team & Administrator
Purpose of the Role
- Support students with learning differences in developing mathematical understanding and skills
- Cultivate a culture of learning by increasing student engagement, confidence, and self-efficacy
- Teach math in a creative, artistic, and imaginative way using a multi-sensory approach
- Deepen understanding of child development through the lens of Waldorf education
- Relate to students, families, and colleagues in a healthy, life-supporting, and responsible manner
- Provide direct, individualized or small-group math instruction
- Collaborate with Main Lesson Teachers to align instruction and develop shared goals
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans, activities, and assessments tailored to diverse learning needs
- Communicate student progress to Main Lesson Teachers and caregivers through written progress reports three times per year
- Work with the Care Team Liaison or assigned mentor for guidance and support
- Maintain professional conduct, appearance, and clear, respectful communication
- Foster healthy relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Support the health and welfare of each child, reporting accidents, injuries, illness, or behavioral concerns as observed
- Ensure classrooms are neat and orderly at the conclusion of each lesson
- Adhere to all school policies, guidelines, and procedures
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as outlined in the Employment Contract Addendum
- Meet with Individualized Service Plan (ISP) committee as needed
Required Skills
- Knowledge of mathematics curriculum and instruction for grades 1–8
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Ability to assess and keep clear records of student progress
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent collaboration and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Familiarity with Waldorf education
- Prior teaching or educational support experience
- Commitment to personal and professional growth
- Dedication to working as a collaborative team member
- Strong communication skills with both students and adults
- Flexibility, a sense of humor, and warmth of soul and spirit
- Physical and emotional stamina
