Short‑Term, Non‑Continuing Assistant Teacher (Child Development Center)
The Mendocino‑Lake Community College District is currently accepting applications for a short‑term, non‑continuing Assistant Teacher to support the Child Development Center. This temporary position is open until filled.

Compensation & BenefitsThis position is a Short‑Term, Non‑Continuing (STNC) hourly position: $18.12 per hour for 10 hours per week, not to exceed 20‑40 hours per week. The position qualifies under the Education Code 88003, allowing hiring of STNC employees for less than 75% of a school year, up to 180 days.
Salary schedule: Salary schedule available at MLCCD – Salary Schedule.
Benefits: Bronze level benefit plan at the employee’s cost.
Paid Time Off: 40 hours of sick leave per fiscal year.
Retirement: Possible CalPERS eligibility contingent upon hours worked.
Representative Duties- Assist in planning and implementing daily program
- Apply and follow proper safety and emergency procedures
- Assist in preparing and setting up activities
- Use effective positive discipline methods respectful of children
- Assist in collecting data for developmental records
- Work with team members to keep yard and equipment safe and organized
- Treat all children with dignity and respect
- Assist in supervising the classroom and yard
- Report to work on time for assigned hours
- Attend and participate in team and all‑staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality of center information and records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Often work indoors; occasionally outdoors supervising activities during free time. Exposure to diseases and infections, noise, and close proximity to速報 children. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs.
QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
Licenses and
Certifications:
CPR and First Aid certified within one year of hire; meet training requirements outlined by Community Care Licensing.

- Move quickly, walk/stand for long periods, sit at children’s eye level
- Stoop, bend, twist, and reach
- Respond to a child calling for help; observe children in the classroom or playground
- May be required to lift a child up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent position changes; quick movement; prolonged standing/walking; eye‑level interaction with children; stooping/bending; reacting to child help signals.
- Provide proof ofಸ eligibility to work in the United States.
- Fingerprint through DOJ/FBI and receive background clearance; TB test (once hired and every four years thereafter).
- District not authorized to sponsor employment visas.
