HGV Class 2 Night Driver

HGV Class 2 Driver – Kettlethorpe, Wakefield

Staffline is recruiting for a HGV Class 2 driver for a client based in Kettlethorpe, Wakefield WF2. This role will be a 13‑week temp‑to‑perm for the right candidate and is guaranteed work.

Core hours:
Sunday to Thursday between 17:00 – 03:00 with flexibility to meet business demands. 48‑hour per week contract – less 45‑minute break unpaid per day, so guaranteed 44.25 hours.

Pay: £16.53 per hour and £17.53 per hour after 44.25 hours.

The role includes loading your own vehicle using a scanner, loading pallets, hanging rails and cartons. Average 5–7 drops per shift. Deliveries are regional. The position is physically demanding; you may also be required to lock up after yourself at some delivery points.

Assessments available ASAP, followed by an induction and 1–2 weeks buddy shifts to ensure you are comfortable with the role before going on your own.

• Conduct daily walk‑round checks on vehicle and trailer to ensure roadworthiness, observe and communicate any defects, and complete relevant documentation.
• Load and unload vehicle, accurately scanning delivery stock and returns and completing relevant documentation.
• Observe and ensure load security, using appropriate load restraints to secure load and ensuring vehicle and equipment are safe for travel.
• Drive the vehicle safely with consideration for vehicles, pedestrians and vulnerable road users.
• Drive in accordance with the law, EU Drivers hours regulations, and the Road Transport Working Time directive.
• Communicate any delays or issues to the relevant persons.
• Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and equipment, internally and externally.
• Access unmanned stores, lock them back up and re‑arm alarms following delivery.

• Valid Class 2 licence and valid Digital Tachograph card
• Valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC)
• Minimum 12 months experience
• Reliable driver looking for a long‑term position
• Happy to work in a physically demanding role
