Lead Software Engineer

Lead Software Engineer | Hybrid (Swindon) | £65,000 – 70,000

A large, mission-driven organisation is seeking a Lead Developer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of web and integration platforms supporting high-traffic, customer-facing digital services.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll balance active development with team leadership and mentoring. Working closely with architects, delivery teams, and senior stakeholders, you’ll help shape a consistent technical direction and ensure high‑quality, secure software delivery.

This role is ideal for an experienced developer who enjoys leading by example, setting engineering standards, and delivering scalable solutions in a complex, enterprise environment.

• Strong background as a senior or lead software developer in a web or integration-focused environment
• Excellent hands‑on experience with .NET technologies including C#, ASP.NET / ASP.NET Core, MVC, Razor, and SQL Server
• CI/CD and IaC using Azure Dev Ops or Git Hub Actions

• Lead the design, build, test, and deployment of robust, scalable web and integration solutions
• Remain hands‑on in development while providing technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching
• Own and evolve a portfolio of web applications and associated databases
• Act as a subject matter expert across development and Azure‑based integration services
• Lead sprint planning, estimation, and delivery using Agile/SCRUM methodologies
• Ensure development standards, security controls, and best practices are consistently applied
• Manage production releases and contribute to structured change and release management
• Collaborate with Architects, Business Analysts, and Project Managers to shape technical solutions
