Position: Personal Assistant for a Disabled Young Person
Location: St Columb Road

About the role

A Personal Assistant is required to support a sixteen‑year‑old autistic young man with ADHD, living in Indian Queens.

He is looking for someone who can build a positive, trusting relationship and become a reliable part of his weekly routine.

The role involves providing 1:1 support to help him take part in local community activities, practice life‑skills, and continue developing his independence. He enjoys getting out and about, discovering new places, and trying new experiences.

Details
  • Pay: £13.50 per hour, with the potential for a higher rate depending on experience and relevant skills.
  • Mileage allowance: 45p per mile.
  • Hours:

    5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling to suit the candidate’s availability. Availability after school, on weekends, and during school holidays is required.
  • Location:

    Indian Queens, Cornwall.
Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to the young man during community activities and life‑skills sessions.
  • Build a trusting relationship and support his weekly routine.
  • Encourage participation in new experiences.
  • Assist with independence development.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience supporting young people on the autism spectrum (distinct advantage).
  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (administration by Cornwall Council).
Employment & Conditions

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, not as an employee of Cornwall Council.
