It connects communities from Uig on the Isle of Skye to the historic cities of Perth and Stirling, offering a unique opportunity to work across a landscape that’s as diverse as it is inspiring.
We have vacancies for experienced Road workers to join our existing operations team. The Road workers will report to Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager and will be responsible to help keeping Scotland moving.
This is a full-time role with Standby Rota and Overtime, including Night shift.
Please note:
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates must be able to reach the depot within 30 minutes of being called out. This is essential to ensure timely response to operational needs.
- Installation and removal of temporary signs and barriers (permanent signs and barriers).
- Preparation, application, compaction and removal of soils, rocks, coated and other materials.
- Hot material patching by hand.
- Drainage works, excavation, pipe laying, kerb laying, scrub cutting.
- Installation and fixing of temporary/permanent road furniture.
- Operation of power tools, small plant and machinery.
- Driving vehicles including those with simple attachments such as tractors.
- Preparing written returns including fault report details.
- Responsibility for the health and safety of the public, colleagues and yourself.
- Participating in our winter and emergency response service on a standby rota basis.
- Winter maintenance duties which include fitting gritter body and blade, driving gritter and spread salt by hand if required.
- A Full UK Driving Licence is essential; LGV Class C Licence is desirable.
- Previous Experience in Roadworks or similar construction environment.
- Willingness to undertake training and achieve competency across key aspects of the role.
- Solid understanding of Health & Safety Regulations and a Commitment to safe working practices.
- Ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions.
- Experience operating small plant machinery and equipment.
- Possession of relevant certifications in plant operation, traffic management, & Health & Safety is highly desirable.
