Field Service Engineer

The Role

Expert in Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation? We want to hear from you. Flexibility across more than one discipline is a bonus—but not essential. This hands-on role in Cumbria operations involves maintaining and improving critical water assets in a fast-paced, modern environment. You’ll tackle varied maintenance tasks and drive continuous improvement across our sites. If you're flexi-skilled and thrive on variety, challenge, and technical problem-solving—this is your chance to make an impact.

You’ll deliver proactive planned maintenance and responsive support, helping us meet compliance and environmental standards. You’ll also contribute to capital and operational projects—ensuring assets are maintained and improved.

Here’s how we reward your skillset:
Bring one core skill (Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation) and start on £38,462; bring two and earn £44,320. One core skill? We’ll support you with tailored training to build your capability.

Key Accountabilities:

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on electrical systems and, where trained, mechanical equipment. Support compliance and safety standards, including statutory requirements. Work independently and as part of a team to diagnose and resolve faults efficiently. Participate in development programmes to build mechanical capability if joining with electrical-only background. Contribute to project work, ensuring assets are installed, maintained, and commissioned to high standards.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues promptly. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Work safely in confined spaces, following health and safety procedures. Communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders.

Skills & Experience:

Full UK driving license required for site travel. Recognised qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent). Proven experience in a core discipline within industrial or utilities environments. Strong awareness of health, safety, and environmental standards. Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team. Willingness to develop skills in additional disciplines. Ability to interpret technical drawings and documentation.

Strong communication and basic IT skills. This role may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.
