Overview

Of Role

To provide technical support to the Bought in Goods Technical Manager in helping develop & maintain robust processes and procedures ensuring the requirements of our customers and BRCGS agents & Brokers certification standards are met.

Key Accountabilities
  • Manage supplier approvals and maintain accurate bought‑in goods supplier records.
  • Keep supplier documentation current and ensure compliant file maintenance.
  • Enter and maintain bought‑in goods specifications in the Hamilton Grant system.
  • Conduct scheduled internal audits, ensuring effective communication and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
  • Carry out routine quality assessment panels for key Westmill brands and report findings.
  • Maintain the food safety and quality management system for bought‑in goods, ensuring controlled documents remain up to date.
  • Support packaging and artwork checks for compliance with EU and UK legislation.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the Bought‑in Goods HACCP system.
  • Support the BIG Technical Manager on strategic projects.
  • Log, investigate, and close supplier non‑conformances and customer complaints within defined timescales.
  • Perform traceability exercises as required.
  • Respond promptly to internal and external technical queries.
  • Act as a key technical contact for 3PL providers.
  • Foster positive relationships with key suppliers.
  • Manage defective products through the correct quarantine procedures.
  • Support issue resolution and decision‑making processes.
The Right Person

The right person will manage supplier approvals and maintain accurate bought‑in goods records, ensuring all supplier documentation and controlled documents remain current and compliant. They will maintain specifications in the Hamilton Grant system, conduct internal audits, and lead quality assessment panels to uphold Westmill brand standards. They will support packaging and artwork checks, contribute to the development and implementation of the Bought‑in Goods HACCP system, and assist the Technical Manager on strategic projects.

The role requires timely investigation and closure of supplier non‑conformances and customer complaints, completion of traceability exercises, and prompt responses to technical queries. Acting as a key technical contact for 3PL providers, they will build strong supplier relationships, manage defective products through correct quarantine processes, support issue resolution and decision‑making, and consistently promote Westmill behaviours and values.
