OverviewWe are currently seeking a Construction Material Technician to join our team at Temple Quarry.
Responsibilities- To test and sample aggregate, bituminous and unbound and earthworks materials including grading analysis, binder content and physical, chemical and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner, both in the laboratory and on contracting sites/plant.
- To conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities and all stockpiles.
- To maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.
- To maintain quality standards by following company and accrediting bodies quality procedures and protocol.
- To record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
- To calibrate all testing equipment.
- To prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies.
- To undertake daily laboratory equipment checks.
- To investigate all material related complaints & provide suitable & sufficient feedback & evidence to support.
- To provide technical cover for other contracts within UK & Ireland.
- Educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent)
- Experience of working in a team environment, providing information and support to colleagues
- Ability to be flexible in working hours, working night shifts or weekends if required
- Computer literacy, knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel
- Driving licence to enable the post holder to fulfil the duties of the role
- Experience working within a similar role and/or within a Testing Laboratory or the wider construction, asphalt, concrete or quarrying industry
- Experience of working with recognised accreditation standards, i.e. BS, ISO, NRA
- Understand and have knowledge of all current UK (BS EN) standards, for aggregates, asphalt and concrete
