THE EMPLOYER IS: CREWE UNITED FOOTBALL & SOCIAL CLUBThe Grounds Maintenance Assistant will support the day to day upkeep, presentation, and safe operation of Crewe United’s facilities. They will report to the Facility manager.
The role ensures that pitches, grounds, and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard for players, visitors, and external users, contributing to the smooth running of the club and supporting wider community activity.
- Assist with routine maintenance of grass and 3G pitches, including brushing, litter removal, and basic surface care.
- Support matchday and training pitch preparation (e.g., setting out equipment, basic line marking tasks under supervision).
- Monitor pitch condition and report issues such as damage, weather related problems, or safety concerns.
- Help maintain the cleanliness and presentation of outdoor spaces, walkways, spectator areas, car parks, and entrances.
- Carry out minor maintenance tasks (e.g., sweeping, tidying, low level repairs).
- Support maintenance of storage areas, ensuring equipment is kept organised and secure.
- Assist with weekly and daily safety checks across the site.
- Ensure pathways, access routes, and public areas remain safe, particularly during adverse weather.
- Use grounds maintenance tools and equipment safely (mowers, strimmers, hand tools, pitch brushes), with full training provided.
- Assist with basic maintenance, cleaning, and storage of tools.
- Safe use of tools and grounds equipment.
- Knowledge of basic health & safety practices.
- Time management and task prioritisation.
- Team working and communication skills.
- Confidence working in a busy club environment.
- Interest in sport or community work.
- Ability to take initiative with routine tasks.
- Basic DIY or groundwork experience (not required
-training provided). - Experience supporting events, community hire, and facility operations.
