Health Care Assistant; GP surgery

Ardingly Court GP Surgery is seeking a Health Care Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly team.

Weare looking for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment and has a loveof patient care.

* The candidate is required to have prior experience of workingin a GP practice in a HCA role for minimum of 1 year in order to hit the ground running* (We do notwish to train a HCA who has not worked in GP surgery before. Please do NOT apply if you do not meet this essential criteria *- The role is very different to a HCA in a nursing home.

OR alternatively秘候 candidate at a minimum needs to be able to independently run phlebotomy clinics with confidence and have prior experience of this in NHS environment (e.g. hospital setting or GP surgery) and willing to train for all other aspects of role. Please do NOT apply if you do not meet this essential criteria *-

The candidate will need to be able to work independently with confidence.

Ideal candidate will have experience of HCA post elements; blood pressure checks, Urinalysis, restocking of roomsư.

Other items you will need to be willing to be trained for. Learning disability checks, diabetes foot assessments,ECG measurement, B12s injections, NHS health checks, assisting with Infection Control processes and audits.

The post is ideally 30 - 34 hours per week Monday-Friday.

We would consider part time applications for other hours if you state on your CV what hours/ days you are looking

Timings can be flexible ideally would start at 8:30/9:00 (althoughhours could be adapted if still met surgery needs).

Pay scale dependent on experience but in the range of £12.21 -£14.00 per hour.

In order to qualify for the top of the pay scale children would need to have previous experience in a GP HCA role and already be carrying out most of the job description on starting.

We are a close knit team of approximately 21 staff (5 GPs,2 nurses, HCAs) and a number of administrative support staff.

We seek to provide a high level of GP health services &serve approximately 6,500 patients.

Centrally located in Kemptown weained walking distance from Brighton train unfold and the St James Street bus stop.

To assist the medical personnel with the care of patients. This will include treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. The post will also include some administrative duties.

As part of the nursing team the Health Care Assistant (HCA) will be employed to undertake nursing and administrative duties as deemed suitable by the Partners.

The HCA will always work along side another member of the nursing team and there will always be a doctor available to Blast to.

The role involves the use of the computer and keyboard skills along with the ability to organise and prioritise a varied workload are necessary.

To maintain a safe and effective level of practice and to bring any deficits in training to the attention of the nurse manager so these can be addressed.

They will be required to act in a professional manner at all times and adhere to practice policies, protocols and guidelines.

• Experience working in a GP surgery as a HCA
• Confident utilising PCs for record keeping/ emails/ internal communications
• Knowledge of confidentiality
• High level of verbal and written English
• Able to work in an inclusive and non-discriminatory way
• Willing to learn new skills and undertake training to work role and personal development
• Skills/ experience with regards to the job description
• NVQ/ BTEC in Health and Social Care or similar
