Shift: 3 shift rotation (Monday - Friday)

A leading timber manufacturing business is looking for an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join their growing team at their site in Humbie, Edinburgh. If you're a fully qualified mechanical fitter with experience in heavy industrial environments, confident fault‑finding under pressure, and looking for long‑term stability within a supportive maintenance team — this could be a strong move for your next career step.
Role OverviewReporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will work as a maintenance fitter as part of the maintenance team to maximise plant reliability, reduce downtime, and support production performance through both reactive and planned maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities- Respond quickly and effectively to plant downtime to maximise production output
- Repair and replace damaged or faulty plant equipment
- Interrogate, fault find, and resolve issues across mechanical systems
- Record completed work accurately using internal IT systems
- Support summer and winter overhaul programmes to maintain plant reliability
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and maintenance meetings
- Carry out repair and overhaul of plant and equipment as required
- Complete work permits and ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards
- Build effective working relationships across production and maintenance teams
- Support special projects as required
- Must be fully qualified Mechanical Maintenance Fitter
- Experience with in a heavy mechanical or industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced setting
- High attention to detail with a results‑driven mindset
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Well‑organised with the ability to follow direction and work independently
- Self‑motivated with a proactive approach to maintenance
- Experience using maintenance or production systems
