We are recruiting for a Toolroom Manager on behalf of a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing business based in Beccles. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company committed to sustainability and innovation.
You ll lead a high-performing Toolroom team, supporting production in a health and safety-conscious environment. Your focus will be on managing tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications, ensuring moulds are available for production, and driving continuous improvement within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Health & Safety best practices and accurate record-keeping.
- Develop and manage departmental documentation, including tooling and compliance.
- Control workloads to meet production requirements and minimise downtime.
- Manage overtime allocation and repair spend within budget.
- Oversee servicing, maintenance, and repair of moulds to ensure production readiness.
- Manufacture and modify tooling items and ancillary parts as required.
- Maintain accurate tooling records and spare part registers.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders and external contractors for refurbishments and parts.
- Conduct audits, including 6S improvements, and ensure COSHH compliance.
- Identify training needs and maintain development plans for the team.
- Previous management experience in a toolroom or similar environment.
- Time-served/qualified toolmaker or mechanical engineer.
- Proficient in turning, milling, drilling, surface grinding, fabrication, welding, and bench work.
- Strong knowledge of tooling types and plastics moulding processes.
- Excellent quality workmanship and attention to detail.
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

HOURS:
Monday Friday, 08 30 (30 mins unpaid lunch), minimum 40 hours per week
