Manufacturing Engineer

Manufacturing Engineer - 12 Month FTC - Aston, Birmingham - £24-28 per hour (DoE)

Take your career to the next level with a global engineering manufacturer at their Birmingham production facility on an initial 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

This role has been created to support manufacturing operations, process improvement activity and NPI projects during a busy period of change and investment across the site.

• HNC / HND or Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering role within a production environment
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles (Kaizen, 5S, Kanban)
• Experience creating and maintaining FMEAs, SOPs, PCPs and related documentation
• CAD experience (Creo or similar 3D‑CAD systems)
• Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
• Ability to hit the ground running in a contract environment

• Hourly rate in the region of 25‑£30 per hour, depending on experience
• 12‑month fixed‑term contract with the potential for extension
• Exposure to NPI, process improvement and manufacturing change projects
• Stable site with a structured engineering and production environment
• Immediate impact role with clear objectives

• Experience with in hydraulics, pneumatics or fluid‑power environments
• Six Sigma or formal continuous improvement training
• Experience supporting prototype builds and new product introductions
• Previous experience working within global or US‑owned manufacturing businesses

This is a well‑established, engineering‑led manufacturing business supplying technically complex products into global markets. The Birmingham site operates within a structured, process‑driven environment with a strong focus on quality, continuous improvement and operational excellence.

• Design and develop assembly and test fixtures to support production needs
• Provide day‑to‑day manufacturing engineering support to production teams
• Lead and support process improvement and cost reduction initiatives
• Create, update and maintain manufacturing documentation and control plans
• Support NPI and prototype builds within agreed timescales
• Specify and support implementation of new equipment and tooling
• Work closely with quality, maintenance and production to resolve issues
• Support layout changes and lean cell development as processes evolve
