Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Swindon

If you are an RVN with a keen interest in inpatient care and the utilisation/development of intensive care skills, this is a role where you will be able to grow and thrive. This is a friendly, nurse‑led team with the opportunity to work with a wide range of cases from various disciplines. We combine primary care and referral caseloads, meaning you will continue to use your core GP skills while gaining exposure to more complex referral cases.

You will work across an integrated wards and ICU department, caring for patients from multiple disciplines including:

  • Neurology
  • Soft tissue
  • Orthopaedics
  • Dentistry
  • Ophthalmology
  • Internal medicine
  • Cardiology

The team is friendly, collaborative and supportive. Nurses are encouraged to share ideas, advocate for their patients and contribute to how the department runs. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership position combining clinical work with protected management time. You will work closely with the Clinical Director, Group Nursing Manager, another CNM, and the wider Linnaeus Nursing Community to deliver outstanding patient care and consistent nursing standards across the practice.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and mentor RVNs, SVNs and PCAs
  • Line‑manage Lead Nurses and Branch Nurses
  • Maintain and develop consistent SOPs across branches
  • Oversee nursing standards across all clinical areas
  • Support CPD planning, training and professional development
  • Lead on governance, quality and clinical safety within nursing
  • Ensure effective communication, workflow and team engagement
  • Maintain a consistent approach to drug and consumables ordering
  • Work clinically alongside your team, leading by example

You’ll be instrumental in shaping the future of nursing at Cromwell, influencing both day‑to‑day practice and long‑term strategy.

The team includes nurses qualified for 1 year through to 6 or 7 years, creating a balanced mix of experience. We are ideally looking for a nurse with at least 1 year post‑qualification experience, particularly if coming from primary care. However, we are open to considering less experienced candidates for the right fit. Referral experience is beneficial but not essential.

If you are proactive, forward‑thinking and motivated to develop your skills, particularly within ICU and emergency care, this role will offer strong clinical exposure and support.

Qualifications

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) who has:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in practice, with 2+ years post‑registration
  • Proven experience in line management, leadership and staff development
  • Strong clinical standards and a passion for patient care
  • A genuine interest in nursing clinics and nursing‑led services
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
  • A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to balance clinical and managerial priorities

If you’re passionate about nursing leadership and ready to make a real impact on patient care and team development, we would love to hear from you.
