Location: Chirk
The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the site procurement strategy is aligned with the Kronospan strategic requirements. The Purchasing Supervisor monitors procurement activities among purchasing and storeroom associates and intervenes and corrects as needed. The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all purchasing activities for the site, supporting the Senior Management, Supervisors, and all Departments within the site in matters regarding Purchasing needs, policy application, employee relations, and continuous improvement related to the department functions.
The Purchasing Supervisor has both direct and indirect responsibility for all site purchases, and service contracts.
- Manage all aspects of sourcing strategy, including contracting and related purchasing decisions, in order to continuously improve product quality and profitability for the company
- Develop and implement plans to reduce costs associated with transactions, minimizing resources needed to manage the process and increasing the speed of processing transactions.
- Develop and manage inventory planning and purchasing processes using technology and data to eliminate waste and increase productivity
- Negotiate with vendors for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment, and services used by Kronospan with consideration to price and service guarantees; assist buyers as needed
- Communicate with production, maintenance, and stores to ensure proper part type and quantity are ordered
- Develop new supply sources as needed
- Conduct supplier analysis, evaluate potential suppliers, and manage the overall supplier qualification process by utilizing metrics, tools, and processes.
- Evaluate and recommend purchasing and stroked decisions to purchasing and site leadership.
- Develop, implement and manage multi-year contracts.
- Renegotiate, renew and discontinue supplier contracts.
- Oversee performance of Vendor Managed programs.
- Work with Sr. Purchasing Manager to set performance goals and monitor ongoing performance of the purchasing department.
- Provide the necessary training, communications, and purchasing management infrastructure to ensure optimization of purchasing process.
- Other duties as assigned by purchasing director.
- Ensure ethical dealings with all vendors.
- Ensure anti‑trust policies are followed by self and direct reports.
- 5+ years in purchasing management role, preferably in a fast paced manufacturing environment
- English – C1
- Excellent computer skills, especially Excel and other Microsoft Office products
- Ability to use purchasing and ERP software
- BS degree in an engineering, supply chain, or business field preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication proficiencies and demonstrated presentation ability
- Must possess and exhibit good leadership skills along with a solid understanding of personnel practices including recruitment, professional development initiatives, goal setting, performance improvement planning, and administration of company rules and regulations.
- Must have special knowledge of Accounting / Purchasing applications and ability to work with mathematical concepts; ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

- Strong customer service skills and sense of urgency
- Advanced knowledge of the legal terminology and language related to supplier and/or vendor agreements and contracts. uusi Advanced experience with ERP systems.
