A private estate in Uig, Isle of Lewis is recruiting a Principal Housekeeper to oversee housekeeping across the principal lodge and estate cottages. This role suits an experienced individual or couple who can take ownership of standards within a remote luxury estate setting.

The role
  • You will manage the housekeeping and upkeep of the main lodge and two estate cottages.
  • You will clean and service all areas to agreed standards and procedures.
  • You will coordinate additional cleaning support during busy periods.
  • You will ensure laundry, ironing and room preparation are completed ahead of bookings.
  • You will maintain stock levels of consumables.
  • You will assist family members and guests during their stay.
  • You may provide drinks and light food service for client‑only stays.
  • You will undertake regular inventory checks and record property condition.
  • You will liaise with the Client Agent and the owner’s Executive Assistant regarding visits and stays.
  • You will complete periodic maintenance tasks such as deep cleaning, window cleaning and safety checks.
  • You will carry out shopping and errands when required.
  • You may be required to drive guests to and from the airport.
  • You will manage day‑to‑day operational decisions within agreed budgets and escalates significant issues when required.
Working pattern

The role is flexible and welcomes applications for seasonal or longer‑term employment. Due to the remote location, a full clean driving licence is essential.

What we are looking for
  • Previous experience in a private household or luxury hospitality setting is essential.
  • You must be organised and comfortable working independently.
  • You should be confident coordinating external support staff when required.
  • You must have high personal standards and attention to detail.
  • A professional and discreet approach is essential.
