Senior Aseptic Services Pharmacist - Band 7

Would you like to work as an Authorised Pharmacist for a brand-new state of the art Section 10 Aseptic Services Unit? We have a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join us as a Senior Aseptic Services Pharmacist. At Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GWH) we are transforming our aseptic service provision to be patient-centred, resilient and responsive to support the national agenda for Aseptic Services Transformation.

Two new Section 10 clean rooms will open to support high cost, short expiry, agile chemotherapy provision and future unmet patient need. This is a unique opportunity to help implement a new aseptic service from the ground up. Progression roles from Band 6 to Band 7 will be considered for pharmacists with an interest in aseptic services where criteria are not fully met.

• Act as an Authorised Pharmacist for the day-to-day supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU) to ensure products prepared and released comply with Department Standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
• Work with the Accountable Pharmacist to maintain and develop facilities, equipment and work practices to achieve high technical standards.
• Collaborate with the pharmacy aseptic services technical team and pharmacy cancer team to coordinate treatment provision to the Day Therapy Unit, haematology inpatient unit and other medical wards requiring high-risk injectable medicines.

• Job responsibilities
• Act as an Authorised Pharmacist and supervise day-to-day preparation of products and release for use in accordance with local, regional and national guidelines.

Qualifications

Essential

• Member of General Pharmaceutical Council
• Masters Degree in Pharmacy

Desirable

• Post qualification in aseptic services (e.g. Pharmaceutical Technology Quality Assurance) or clinical (e.g. Clinical Diploma)
• Quality risk management training
• Change management training

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in hospital pharmacy
• Clinical Pharmacy: demonstrate core knowledge of therapeutics and pharmacology
• Clinical reasoning and judgement
• Problem solving ability
• Awareness of current NHS agenda
• Ability to identify and prioritise work and manage time to meet deadlines
• Understanding of legislation applicable to hospital pharmacy practice
• Awareness of legislation and standards relating to Good Manufacturing Practice
• Experience of working within pharmacy aseptic services operating under Section 10 of the Medicines Act 1968
