Join School House as a Team Leader and provide care for people with severe learning disabilities, Autism and behaviours that may be seen as challenging; where you’ll support and encourage service users to lead a full and valued life, enabling them to live more independently.
You’ll be great with people – a real ‘people person’, able to communicate effectively – explaining yourself clearly in the right tone to suit the situation and be really good at understanding others (behaviours and expressions, as well as vocal). Having a good sense of humour and resilience, and a willingness to help residents with their personal hygiene are also important.
What you will be doing
You will join an inclusive, supportive team that works well together to provide care to people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions.
Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will use your excellent communication skills and experience as a Team Leader with a background in Learning Disabilities & Autism to provide care and support people through their care pathway.
It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of you; being able to do something today that they couldn’t do last week.
You will be working on a 3-week rolling rota with a mixture of late and early shifts. There are a mixture of shift lengths from 7.5 hour to 8.5 hours (including weekends).
As a Team Leader you will have:
Ideally have or working towards NVQ 3 in Health & Social Care
Hold a valid UK driving licence (preferred to assist with community visits)
Have strong empathy and a caring and compassionate nature
Be willing to support residents with personal hygiene
Have excellent people and communication skills, and a good sense of humour
Deal with challenging behaviours
Have a positive and professional approach
Be reliable, flexible, hard-working and honest
Be local or within commutable distance
You must live in the UK and have the Right to Work in the UK full time. 20-hour Student and Skilled Worker Visa's cannot be accepted.

School House, School Walk, Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, TW16 6RB
School House is a ten bed, mixed gender community-based home made up of nine beds in the house and a self-contained flat. People supported at School House have severe learning disabilities and associated health needs, autism and behaviours which, due to their diagnosis may be seen as challenging. The service is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by a dedicated team made up of the Registered Manager and Support Workers.
Our aim is to provide a home in the heart of the local community, which promotes social inclusion through meaningful community engagement. Residents are supported to develop social networks and engage in a range of activities to live purposeful lives. We ensure residents are able to access all the facilities and resources they wish to, whilst keeping safe and having choice and control.
We deliver support with dignity and respect, achieve personalised outcomes and help people to develop constructive ways of communicating through new skills and behaviours

Annual base salary of £26130 (£13,40 hourly pay)
