Job Overview

A self‑supporting, single post holder, responsible for the provision of clear, consistent and quality Health & Safety support and operational activities at all levels of our organisation; thereby ensuring a safe working environment for colleagues, a safe visitor experience for our visitors and guests to the site, and a safe environment for our monastic community. A practical and professional advisory service embracing all areas of Health & Safety management including risk assessment, workplace inspections/audits, investigation, recording and reporting, training and site security.

All aspects of recruitment and selection will be carried out in line with the Equality Act 2010.

Qualifications
  • Are as a minimum IOSH and NEBOSH general certificate qualified
  • Have at least 3 years' post qualification experience, preferably from a complex and diverse organisation
  • Have sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and associated legislation relevant to Buckfast Abbey
  • Can evidence taking the lead in developing and maintaining Health & Safety process, procedure and systems
  • Can evidence promoting a positive Health & Safety culture
  • Can establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and across different disciplines
  • Have the ability to manage technical consultants and subcontractors and our site security contractor
  • Have good IT skills that include expertise in Excel, Powerpoint and databases
  • Have integrity that aligns to our values and an empathy with the Catholic ethos of our site
  • Have a valid driving licence and flexibility to occasionally travel to Staffordshire to provide Health & Safety advice to another area of the Buckfast Group that includes a care home
