Position: Band 7/8a Practitioner Psychologist Preceptorship  - SOLAR (TEDS)
Location: Knowle

Are you looking for a new role as a clinical psychologist in CAMHS and have a dedication to offering services for children and young people?

We have an opportunity for a Highly Specialist Counselling/Clinical Psychologist (or preceptorship for a Band 7 to 8a position) within our eating disorder service (TEDS) in Solar. The team currently consists of a Team Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist/Systemic Family Therapist, CPNs, Dietician, Nurse Associate, Assistant Psychologist and trainees. The eating disorder team is an integral part of our wider Solar service.

Solar provides emotional wellbeing and mental health services to Children, Young People and Families in Solihull (0-18).

Solar was set up as a service not about thresholds or tiers but about timely access to appropriate support in line with children and young people's needs. Solar aims to create a comprehensive system, designed around the needs of children and young people.

The main base for this post will be at Freshfields Clinic in Knowle. However, there may be occasions when you are required to work from other bases, including the Solar base at Bishop Wilson in Chelmsley Wood.

As a clinical/counselling psychologist or equivalent applied psychological practitioner, the role will assist in the delivery of the service to children, young people and families within Solar TEDS. This will include highly specialist psychological assessments, individual therapy and group work. In addition the role will include the development of supervision of psychological therapists and assistant psychologists as well as providing consultation, service development, research and teaching/training as required.

There are also opportunities to lead on aspects in the service, as well as ongoing CPD and training.

Welcome to Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust. Our 4000 clinical and support staff help us to improve mental health wellbeing and meet the needs of the 70,000 people we serve each year. We provide a range of mental healthcare services across Birmingham and Solihull, as well as specialised services nationally. We also offer medical, nursing and psychology training and are proud of our international reputation for both research and innovation.

Our population is culturally diverse, characterised in places by high levels of deprivation which create an increasing demand for our services and a necessity for us to make sure everyone can access the help they need. We are a team of compassionate, inclusive and committed people working together to provide excellent care to support our community. If you are looking for a place to belong, where you can make a real difference to people’s lives, join our team where our warm welcome is waiting for you.
