Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE DOE

Hours: 37.5 hours per week 8.30am – 4.30pm

Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full‑time contract can be discussed based on personal circumstances)

About the Role

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our in‑house clinical team at Oakfield House School. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working, guide your practice within an education setting and clarify your roles and responsibilities.

You will be given responsibility for holding a Speech and Language Therapy caseload, with the full support of your designated clinical supervisor and site lead, and will contribute to staff training and consultation as required. This post requires a resilient, creative, and enthusiastic individual who shares our vision to use innovative approaches to enhance the quality of life and outcomes for the pupils we support.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver bespoke Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergent profiles or SEMH needs.
  • Hold and manage a Speech and Language Therapy caseload with support from the clinical supervisor and site lead.
  • Contribute to staff training and consultation as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach and a strong safeguarding culture.
Essential Criteria
  • Degree or Masters in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registered.
  • Relevant experience engaging with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
  • Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary working in a range of settings.
  • Experience communicating with families/relatives and carers.
  • Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
  • Strong relationship‑building, analytical and judgmental skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good time‑management and organisational skills.
  • Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
  • Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and how to formulate support plans based on needs profiles.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Desirable Criteria
  • Understanding of sensory and motor differences that may impact communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs profiles.
  • Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
