Job Summary

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role‑specific criteria. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed‑term contract or secondment for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our neuro team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital based in Brighton and the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.

We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who has excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously and as part of the wider MDT.

Current Neuroscience Rotations Include:
  • Hyper Acute Stroke Services, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton
  • Sussex Rehabilitation Centre, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath
  • Neuro‑medical Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton
  • Neurosurgery, Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton

Responsibilities
  • To provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions using an evidence‑based, flexible and patient‑centred approach.
  • To work within a Multi‑Disciplinary Team to meet the complex health and social care needs of people who are referred to our services.
  • To provide supervision and leadership for relevant junior members of occupational therapy staff in conjunction with the team leader.
  • To provide supervision and training for students on practice placement.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within a designated specialist team.
  • To maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to ensure delivery of an excellent OT service across all pathways.

Essential - Knowledge and

Experience:

  • Knowledge of the role of an acute OT in the specialist area and the use of assessment, treatment and rehab interventions for these patients
  • Experience in the assessment and formulating treatment plans for patients
  • Complete, thorough neurological assessment identifying functional potential and barriers to discharge; clearly stating the impact of impairments, environment and activities and participation
