Diabetic Clinical Nurse Specialist Adult Cystic Fibrosis - External

The All Wales Adult Cystic Fibrosis Service provides care for most adults with Cystic Fibrosis in Wales.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dynamic and autonomous diabetes specialist nurse to join the Specialist Nursing team of the All Wales Adult CF Service.
Main duties of the jobThe Cystic Fibrosis team are continuing to develop to meet the changing needs of this patient group and the multi-disciplinary team work closely together to provide care and support to patients at home as well as in hospital, in clinics and through transition from paediatric services. The diabetes specialist nurse will be supported and included within the CF CNS team as an autonomous member with a specific individual workload.
The primary responsibilities of this post are:
- To co‑ordinate and facilitate the management of patients with CF related diabetes (CFRD)
- To work with the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist knowledge and facilitate effective care and treatment for patients with CFRD
- To improve standards of care through supervision of practice, teaching and support
- To take on the role of patient advocate
- To initiate treatments autonomously utilising advanced clinical skills
Essential criteria for this position includes a minimum of 2 years experience at Band 6 and experience of working with patients with diabetes as well as commitment, motivation and excellent communication skills.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role;

Person Specification Qualifications- Degree supplemented by diploma level/specialist training and short courses in diabetes management
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
- Teaching and assessing in clinical practice / Teaching qualification
- Demonstrable experience in diabetes management
- Experience of managing own caseload in relevant speciality
- Experience of managing insulin pumps
- Experience of research and audit
- Evidence of excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrate sound IT skill and evidence of managing self‑development
- Demonstrate ability to influence within and outside of service across multi/inter‑disciplinary groups
- Ability to speak Welsh
- Involvement in audit and research
- Evidence of presenting work inside and outside the organisation
- Evidence of specific knowledge and skills in diabetes care
- Evidence of specific knowledge and skills in cystic fibrosis / respiratory care
- Evidence of ability to motivate, influence change, support staff and evaluate services
- Evidence of working autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service
