Activity Assistant - Dementia Care Experience Preferred

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our dedicated team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents with dementia. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the quality of life for our residents by creating a warm, stimulating, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents with dementia
  • Assess residents’ interests and abilities to develop personalized activity plans
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participation and social interaction
  • Monitor and document residents’ responses to activities, noting any changes or special needs
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other team members to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans
  • Maintain a safe and clean activity space, ensuring all equipment and materials are used appropriately
  • Support residents in maintaining their dignity, independence, and emotional well‑being
Skills and Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with seniors, particularly those with dementia or cognitive impairments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Creativity and enthusiasm in planning engaging activities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve residents’ quality of life
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in activity planning or dementia care are a plus
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and infection control procedures
