Overview
We are looking for Support Workers to join our team at Rusthall residential service in the village of Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells. Rusthall offers overnight short break stays for up to five people with learning disabilities and complex needs from the age of sixteen and upwards, giving them and their caregiver a break. It’s a really rewarding role and due to the service offering short breaks you get to know lots of different people who come to stay at Rusthall;
every stay is different.
As a support worker at Rusthall, you will make a difference to the lives of the people who come to stay with us. You will help them to enjoy their break, engage in meaningful activities, and achieve their goals. You will also support them with their personal care, medication, and health needs, as well as maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for them.
You will work closely with the families and carers of the people we support, as well as other professionals and agencies involved in their care.

- Work closely with families, carers, and other professionals and agencies involved in the care of the people we support.
- You will need to hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards achieving this within two years of employment. You will also be expected to complete your Care Certificate if you do not already hold this.
- You will have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities and/or Autism.
- You will possess knowledge of safeguarding.
- You must be able to take personal and professional responsibility for your actions and performance.
- This post involves working closely with children and adults; this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- This role requires holding a Full UK Driving Licence – the council is committed to reasonable adjustments, so while this job requires driving, your application will still be considered if you are unable to drive due to a disability.
- This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.
The hours we are looking to recruit to are negotiable (part time or full time). You will work a flexible shift pattern between day and night shifts, including weekends, and you may also be needed to support the occasional waking night. You will receive comprehensive training and induction, as well as ongoing support and supervision. You will also have the opportunity to develop your skills and qualifications through our learning and development programme.
