Job DescriptionA Direct Payments client in Pembrokeshire is looking to employ a Personal Assistant to support them to access the community, shopping, medical appointments and places of their interest. This post is funded through the Direct Payments scheme, which aims to enable the client to manage their support and meet their care needs independently. The successful applicant should be friendly and supportive and be able to work flexibly to meet the care needs of the client.
They should be able to support the client to make their own decisions around their care needs and encourage them to maintain their independence.
- Supporting the employer to access the community, shopping, medical appointments and places of their interest.
- May have to assist with toileting when out in the community.
- Enabling the employer to interact socially in their community.
- To provide companionship in the employer’s home, including engaging in conversation with the employer and providing them with social interaction.
- Encouraging the employer to attend appointments.
- Ensuring the employer’s safety at all times during your working hours.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks that are requested by the employer during your working hours.
- Be mindful of safeguarding issues, and feedback any concerns to the relevant authority.
- Be responsible for contacting the GP, Social Worker or Local Authority should the employer need medical assistance.
- Caring and patient.
- Responsible and honest.
- Proactive and self‑motivated.
- Has good local knowledge.
- Good time‑keeping and flexibility around working patterns and duties.
- Good communicator.
- Able to develop a supportive and consistent relationship.
A full, clean driving licence and use of a car is required. You must have business use on your vehicle insurance to be able to use the vehicle within work hours.
Benefits- 5.6 weeks holiday per year (pro rata).
- Sick pay at SSP rate.
- Training is provided if required.
