DPSS- Personal Assistant - Baglan

Overview

I am a young man living in the Baglan area of Port Talbot. I really enjoy travelling by bus and I love going to visit Swansea Bus Museum. I enjoy bowling and going to the Cinema; and I enjoy being out and about and busy. For long distances I may need to use my wheelchair but I am fine getting around shorter distances.

I can be shy to start off with but I am generally a really laid back person and I enjoy being active. Because I am shy, my communication can be slow until I start feeling comfortable with you. I always like to look on the bright side of life and am told that I have a sunny disposition.

• Picking me up and going with me to visit places that I like or do activities that I enjoy (this will be on the bus or the train).
• Planning activities with me.
• Life skills such as supporting/prompting me to go shopping.

• Two satisfactory references must be provided if requested by the employer.
• This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.
• Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided.
• You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
• You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment.
• You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

• Is reliable and punctual.
• Has a good sense of humour and is patient.
• Has some experience of adults on the spectrum is desirable, but not essential.
• Must be a driver (although you don't necessarily need your own car as I have a mobility vehicle).
• Preferably a female PA.
• Someone who is calm and understands autism.
