Would you like to support the provision of a quality assurance service for a brand-new state of the art Section 10 Aseptic Services Unit? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist to join us as a Senior Aseptic Services Pharmacist.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months at Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GWH). The service is undergoing transformation to a patient-centered, resilient and reactive aseptic service. Two new Section 10 clean rooms will soon open to support high-cost, short-expiry, agile chemotherapy provision and future unmet patient need. This is a unique opportunity to be part of implementing a new aseptic service from the ground up.
Progression from band 6 to band 7 will be considered for pharmacists with an interest in aseptic services where criteria are not fully met.

- Act as an Authorised Pharmacist for day-to-day supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU) to ensure products prepared and released comply with Department Standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
- Work with the Accountable Pharmacist to ensure, maintain and develop facilities, equipment and work practices to achieve high technical standards.
- Co-ordinate treatment provision with the pharmacy aseptic services technical team and the pharmacy cancer team to Day Therapy Unit, haematology inpatient unit and other medical wards requiring high-risk injectables.

Job responsibilities- Act as an Authorised Pharmacist and supervise day-to-day preparation of products and release for use in accordance with local, regional and national guidelines.
- Ensure the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit operates in compliance with GMP, GCP, GDP, QA of Aseptic Preparation Services, RPSGB Code of Ethics, Health and Safety, Medicines Act, COSHH and departmental procedures.
- Perform final release of products purchased as unlicensed ready-to-administer doses from Specials Manufacturers; maintain competence in this area.
- Be aware of processes to prepare, dispense and release a wide range of aseptic products (cytotoxics, epidurals, intrathecal, antibiotics, parenteral nutrition, high-risk injectables and novel agents).
- Provide specialised clinical advice to service users (prescribers, nursing, pharmacy and patients) on diluents, administration routes, stability and storage conditions.
