we're thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate, skilled, and self-driven pharmacy technician to join our team at upper eden medical practice
as part of the primary care network (pcn)
the pharmacy technician will work alongside the practice clinical pharmacist to support the practice clinical team in all aspects of prescribing and medicines safety.
there are up to 20 hours hours per week available. Hours are negotiable.

main duties of the jobthe purpose of this role is tolead improvements to maximise safe and best practice in prescribing and improve the quality of patient care. You wouldbe a point of contact for patient enquiries about their prescriptions.
you should be an experienced pharmacy technician, with a relevant pharmaceutical qualification, be registered with the general pharmaceutical council (gphc) and have completed orbe enrolled on the cppe pathway into gp practice.

job responsibilitiesthis list of duties and responsibilities, which follows, represents the broad range of tasks which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically. This list is not exhaustive, and the role may include additional duties which are not listed here.
key duties and responsibilities
- undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
- carry out medicines optimisation tasks including effective medicine administration (e.g. Checking inhaler technique), supporting medication reviews and medicines reconciliation. Where required, utilise consultation skills to work in partnership with patients to ensure they use their medicines effectively.
- support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for care home patients and issue fp10s for monthly requests and liaise closely with care home managers.
- support the clinical pharmacist in structured medication reviews (smr) i.e. Organise necessary monitoring tests prior to smr.
- provide expertise to address both the public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling local health inequalities.
- manage shared care protocols and liaise with clinical pharmacists for more complex patients.
- support initiatives for antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing locally.
- support the practice and dispensary team to ensure efficient medicines optimisation processes are being followed including support with legislative protocols.
- promotion and management of the electronic repeat dispensing (erd) and online ordering.
- support practice reception teams in streaming general prescription requests, so as to allow gps and clinical pharmacists to review the more clinically complex requests.
- support the implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance within the practice.
- support the practice to deliver on qipp agenda, qof and locally commissioned enhanced services.
