Location: Dolgellau
Applications for Twmp Daith 2026 are now OPEN!
Do you play an instrument, are a clog or a Welsh folk dancer? Are you 16 – 25 years old and looking for a summer job?
What is Twmp Daith? Twmp Daith is a paid summer job touring Wales in a mini-bus hosting twmpaths (Welsh barn dance).
Where and when? The job period is from 6th July- 8th August. This will include a training week between the 6th – 11th July in mid Wales.
The group will spend the summer playing music, hosting twmpaths and workshops, gaining experience playing live and calling dances.
Locations will range from village halls to large festivals, including Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau and the National Eisteddfod. There is also a possibility of a trip to the America Danza festival in Colombia between the 21-31st of August.
Who? To be a part of Twmp Daith 2026, you are expected to be able to play an instrument (in any style), sing, clog dance or folk dance to a high standard. It would be an advantage if you could do more than one and have an understanding of traditional Welsh music, but not essential. Flexibility and a willingness to learn and “take part” is crucial and we would expect you to have some performance experience.
You will receive training on how to call twmpath dances, hold simple clog dance workshops, and work with your group to organise events and set up a PA system.
Twmp Daith will strive to ensure a good balance of musicians. We encourage applications from musicians who can play fiddle, accordion, harp, whistle, guitar, percussion, keyboard, trombone, cello, bass guitar, double bass, drums, flute, bras/string instrument, bagpipe.... etc!
This year we are offering spaces to NINE people between 16 and 25(ish). You will be paid a stipend of £1,000 and accommodation will be provided. We expect you to be available for the entire tour and training week, and days off from touring will be scheduled for you to go home. On the tour, you will always be supported by Twmp Daith supervisors who act as drivers and mentors.
