Hunter Savage is working exclusively on behalf of our client based in Ballygawley to recruit a Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This Design Engineer job offers an excellent opportunity for a mechanical design professional to join an innovative engineering business that designs and manufactures specialist machinery used across the agricultural, materials handling and industrial sectors.

Due to continued growth and increasing demand for their equipment, our client is expanding their in-house engineering capability and is looking to recruit a Design Engineer who can contribute to the development of new machinery while also improving existing product designs. This role would suit either a mid-level Design Engineer with 3–4 years’ experience or a Senior Design Engineer looking for greater ownership within a smaller, agile engineering team.

The successful Design Engineer will work closely with manufacturing and operations teams, designing practical and robust mechanical solutions that move efficiently from concept through to production. Candidates with experience designing heavy machinery, materials handling equipment, quarrying equipment, conveyors, agricultural machinery or similar engineered products will be particularly well suited.

• Mechanical design of specialist machinery and equipment
• Create 3D models and detailed engineering drawings using CAD software (Solid Edge)
• Support product development from concept, prototyping and testing through to manufacture
• Improve existing machinery designs to enhance durability, efficiency and manufacturability
• Work closely with production and fabrication teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective
• Prepare engineering documentation and technical specifications
• Collaborate with the wider engineering team on product innovation and continuous improvement

• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Approximately 3+ years’ experience in a mechanical design role
• Experience using Solid Edge or similar 3D CAD software
• Experience designing machinery, materials handling equipment, quarrying equipment, agricultural machinery or other heavy mechanical systems would be highly desirable
• Strong practical engineering mindset with good understanding of manufacturing processes
• Comfortable working in a fully on‑site engineering environment

• Salary £35,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
