Regulations and Safety Manager – Autonomous Drone Operations
, we are redefining how autonomous drones operate technology enables complex missions – inspecting critical national infrastructure safely, repeatedly, and commercially. We work in close partnership with aviation authorities to ensure advanced autonomous operations are delivered in practice, not just in theory. This is real‑world deployment at the forefront of autonomous capability.
As we scale further – including expansion outside of the UK – we are looking for someone to take hands‑on ownership of our regulatory and safety function. This role is about delivering on the full potential of autonomous technology in a way that balances safety, credibility, and commercial viability.
The RoleYou will take ownership of sees.ai’s regulatory portfolio, working closely with the CTO and the rest of the regulatory team to advance our existing permissions and enable future operational capability. You must have strong judgement in interpreting evolving regulatory frameworks and applying them responsibly to real‑world operations.
Responsibilities- Delivering sees.ai’s regulatory strategy, advancing current CAA permissions and securing new approvals aligned with client and operational needs
- Managing the transition toward SORA‑based approvals and owning multiple regulatory applications
- Supporting operations and engineering teams with regulatory input on the feasibility of proposed activities
- Maintaining and updating all documentation required for regulatory submissions and audits
- Leading internal compliance efforts to ensure adherence to operational authorisations and regulatory changes
- Collaborating with training and operations teams to ensure competencies align with evolving regulatory requirements
- Representing sees.ai in industry forums and regulatory working groups
- Engaging with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies to support safe expansion
- Staying up-to-date with UK CAA regulations and international developments, including EASA frameworks
- Strong working knowledge of UK CAA drone regulations and operational authorisations
- Experience operating within structured regulatory environments
- Sound judgement in interpreting evolving regulatory frameworks
- High attention to detail and documentation discipline
- Ability to balance safety, compliance, and commercial delivery
- Confident communicator with regulators and senior internal stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a technically advanced, evolving environment
- Experience with BVLOS or advanced drone operations (Desirable)
- Exposure to EASA regulatory frameworks (Desirable)
- Experience developing or managing Safety Management Systems (Desirable)
- Participation in regulatory working groups (Desirable)
- Calm, measured, and pragmatic personality (Desirable)
- Detail‑oriented without being bureaucratic (Desirable)
- Commercially aware (Desirable)
- Credible in conversations with regulators (Desirable)
