Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading UK planning consultancy in the appointment of an Assistant Planner or Town Planner to join their established and growing Manchester team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious planning professional to develop their career within a highly regarded consultancy environment, working on a diverse range of high-quality projects across the UK.
The RoleThe successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative and well-resourced planning team, supporting and leading on projects across a variety of sectors including residential, commercial, mixed-use, regeneration, logistics, retail and infrastructure.
The role offers structured training, mentoring and a clear pathway for career progression, making it ideal for candidates at an early to intermediate stage of their planning career.
Key Responsibilities- Assisting in the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals and development proposals
- Preparing planning appraisals, planning statements and supporting documentation
- Providing planning advice to clients under the guidance of senior colleagues
- Supporting senior planners on major and complex development projects
- Managing smaller planning projects independently (Town Planner level)
- Liaising with local planning authorities, statutory consultees and key stakeholders
- Monitoring planning policy and legislative changes
- Attending meetings, site visits and public consultations as required
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Town and Country Planning or a related discipline (RTPI accredited or working towards RTPI)
- Experience with in a consultancy or local authority environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- A proactive and professional approach to work
