Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Production, the Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring finished products meet internal quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines. This role focuses on process control, defect reduction, and continuous improvement within a production environment.

You will drive and lead the overall Quality agenda, within a team focused growing switch gear production facility, developing an effective quality system driving value across quality planning, inspection and auditing.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement and maintain quality systems and procedures for manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Work closely with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Track and report key quality metrics (scrap, rework, FPY, customer complaints)
  • Support supplier quality activities, including supplier audits and incoming inspections.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on quality standards and procedures
  • Use quality tools such as SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, and PPAP to prevent defects.
  • Investigate nonconformances, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Conduct internal audits and support external audits (ISO 9001 or equivalent)
  • Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Lead the identification of problem root cause and the development and implementation of effective corrections and preventive method.
  • Maintain an interactive plant quality relationship focused on effective transition of product releases to a manufacturing quality support role.
  • Work closely with Production and Engineering to improve product and service quality.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

The Role

The Person :
  • Minimum of 5 years professional engineering quality related experience within a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Experience with ISO standards and internal audit processes
  • Proficiency with quality tools (SPC, Pareto analysis, Fishbone, 5 Why)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Exposure to supplier quality management and customer audits
  • Proficient in data analysis; ability to develop performance metrics and goals based on product and process data.
  • Knowledgeable and proficient with various data analysis and problem-solving techniques
  • Direct and relative experience conducting Root Causes and Correct Actions using 8D problem solving or similar techniques.
  • Knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Knowledge in electrical and mechanical design and development, reliability and test validation
  • Generate and present reports using Excel, PowerPoint applications.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail with a continuous improvement mindset.
