Design Engineer

Job Description

Design Engineer / Mechanical Design Engineer / CAD Engineer required to join a specialist manufacturer of steel fabrications and engineered systems based in Broughton, Northamptonshire.

The successful Design Engineer will be responsible for producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings using Solid Works, managing BOMs, and supporting engineering and manufacturing teams with the design of bespoke mechanical systems and assemblies.

You’ll have experience within a steel fabrication or mechanical engineering environment, with strong Solid Works skills and the ability to work hands‑on with production and project teams.

• £40,000 depending on experience
• Based in Broughton, Northamptonshire

• Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings using Solid Works
• Create and manage BOMs within the company’s ERP system
• Support engineering, sales, and production teams with design input
• Ensure drawing quality, version control, and document accuracy
• Collaborate with manufacturing to ensure designs are feasible and cost‑effective

• Experience as a Design Engineer / Draughts person / CAD Engineer or similar
• Background in steel fabrications or mechanical manufacturing
• Proficient in Solid Works and AutoCAD
• HNC or equivalent in _ or Manufacturing Engineering
• Must be commutable to Broughton, Northamptonshire
