You will have responsibility for:

- providing strategic and technical leadership across engineering portfolio, ensuring the successful delivery of large and complex capital projects within the UK power and energy infrastructure sector.

The role is responsible for engineering governance, technical assurance, safety in design, resource management, and stakeholder engagement across all projects.

Ensure that appropriate and competent resources to design projects.

Identify, manage, and mitigate engineering, quality, and delivery risk
Provide technical leadership and governance, ensuring project designs comply with Engineering Works Information (EWI), applicable standards, and client requirements.
Schedule and chair design reviews, design assurance activities, and Design Authority Reviews
Lead project coordination activities, including chairing meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders (including remote design office).
Organise and oversee technical workshops and safety reviews such as HAZID, HAZOP and HAZCON
Promote and manage safety across the project portfolio, including Safety in Design, CDM Regulations, and Principal Designer (PD) duties.
Review construction methodologies, RAMS, and safety documentation to support safe commissioning and operational readiness

- Provide direct line management and oversight of Engineering Managers and Project
Engineers

You will have:

o Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Electrical or Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent professional experience.
o Minimum of 10 years' experience delivering major infrastructure and capital projects, including FACTS projects (132kV, 275kV, 400kV or 500kV HVDC) within transmission and distribution networks.
o In-depth understanding of applicable UK legislation and regulatory requirements, including CDM Regulations, ESQCR, and asset/project governance frameworks.
- Strong grounding in NEC contracts
- Full UK driving licence with the possibility of UK and overseas travel.
