Mechanical Design Engineer – Tip Top Job

Our client designs and manufactures bespoke machinery in Devon. We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis.

Salary: GBP 35,000 – 42,000 (depending on experience). Type:
Permanent.

• At least 2 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
• Experience with machinery design, hydraulics, sheet metal and precision components
• Strong 3D CAD skills – Inventor or Solid Works preferably
• Strong practical skills – hand calculations, verification, validation, FEA, testing and prototyping
• Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / ONC qualified or similar in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience designing products from concept to production
• Ability to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
• Ability to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
• Innovative, accurate and passionate about design
• Technically minded with a head for problem solving
• Excellent leadership and organisational skills
• Ability to work well individually as well as part of a team

• Use CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Use Inventor software for day‑to‑day design work
• Be responsible for research, hand calculations, FEA, testing and prototyping
• Manage the full product lifecycle from concept to production
• Create models and prototypes
• Liaise with clients and develop solutions for design specifications
• Collaborate with different departments to ensure smooth project delivery
• Maintain technical drawings and documentation
• Provide technical guidance and support
• Support product testing, verification and validation
• Support more junior members of the team
