Do you have proven experience managing commercial aspects of large-scale civil engineering projects under NEC contracts?
Are you qualified in Quantity Surveying (Degree or HNC/HND) and able to demonstrate strong cost control and reporting skills?

The Opportunity
Are you looking to play a pivotal role in one of the UK s most complex and nationally significant infrastructure projects? Due to continued growth on a £600mn civil engineering programme, we are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading Tier 1 contractor, ensuring financial control and contractual compliance on a project that shapes the future of the UK s energy and environmental commitments.

Your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Manage all aspects of cost control, forecasting, and reporting for allocated work packages.
  • Prepare and submit valuations, variations, and final accounts in line with NEC contract requirements.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure timely payment applications.
  • Provide accurate commercial advice to the project team and support risk management processes.
  • Liaise with client representatives and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with company and project financial governance procedures.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor on large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

It s great if you also have the following

  • Experience working in a nuclear or highly regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with cost management software and digital reporting tools.
  • Membership of a professional body (e.g., RICS).

Based in Cumbria, you will be part of a collaborative commercial team delivering a major infrastructure programme within one of the UK s most secure and safety-critical environments.
