Product Development Lead

We are seeking an experienced and driven Product Development Lead to join our team at Pro Ampac Elsham
. This role is critical in leading our product development and technical teams to deliver innovative, high-performance, and sustainable film solutions. You will guide material science initiatives, new product strategies, and technical programs to achieve profitable growth and customer satisfaction.

• Lead the identification and assessment of new polymer resins, additive packages, and extrusion technologies.
• Ensure new product developments align with existing blown film extrusion capabilities; identify and justify new equipment or process upgrades when needed.
• Optimise film structures for performance, sustainability, and profitability through down gauging, resin substitution, and process efficiency improvements.
• Collaborate closely with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to translate customer needs into film specifications and successful product launches.
• Partner with internal teams and suppliers to drive innovation, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage technical investigations, material and process changes, and document validation results.
• Lead and prioritise R&D projects to ensure efficient use of lab and production resources, focusing on scalable, commercially viable solutions.
• Ensure compliance with global food contact and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, EU 10/2011, REACH).
• Build and maintain strong technical relationships with customers to support co-development and performance validation.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development for the R&D and technical team.

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in blown film manufacturing with proven experience in materials science, product development, and team leadership.
• Strong understanding of polymers, lamination practices, and product commercialisation.
• Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, Teams, and Outlook.
• Strong communicator with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
• Highly organised, proactive, and confident professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
