HSE Advisor

ROLE PURPOSE

To provide Health, Safety & Environmental advice and training for all employees within the region. Regular travel and overnight stays are required, with 1‑2 days a week based in our Swindon Head Office.

• Maintain a clear understanding of legal obligations, industry standards, and HSE best practice, and communicate changes to the business.
• Engage regularly with logistics, clearance, and retail sites across the region.
• Conduct HSE legal compliance audits of premises, and additional risk‑management audits/inspections.
• Conduct and manage fire risk assessments, including corrective actions.
• Contribute to continual improvement of the audit system for health, safety, and environment.
• Collect, review, and report on trends identified during the internal audit programme.
• Support compliance with ISO 45001 and 14001 requirements.
• Assist businesses in populating, maintaining, and managing the Entropy HSE Management System.
• Provide guidance on management systems, policies, and procedures.
• Develop, coordinate, and contribute to corporate Health, Safety & Environment improvement programmes.
• Support regional offices with environmental initiatives such as waste and energy reduction, social value, and community engagement.
• Provide ad‑hoc support for corporate Health, Safety & Environment incident investigations.

• Competence in site risk management and maintaining risk controls to a legally compliant standard; experience developing risk‑management systems is desirable.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team as required.
• Incident investigation skills.
• Experience developing and delivering corporate Health, Safety & Environment training and presentations.
• Ability to identify and manage environmental risk and opportunities.
• HSE audit experience.
• Risk assessments and safe systems/practices of work.
• Influence management teams and challenge others through effective communication skills.
• Time‑management and workload prioritisation.
• Lead and support teams in delivering corporate Health, Safety and Environment projects.
• Recognise good practice and promote it across the region.
• Engage with the wider HSE community to build relationships, share best practice, and support corporate initiatives.
• Full clean driving licence required due to frequent travel and occasional overnight stays.
• Technical knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment disciplines with desired minimum qualifications in:
  • Auditing (45001 / 14001 desirable but not essential).
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent, or willingness to work towards.
  • IEMA foundation certificate in Environmental Management or willingness to work towards.
