We are seeking to appoint a new Pastoral Leader to play a key role in supporting the wellbeing, behaviour, and development of students across two year groups in Years 8-11.

The role acts as a central point of contact for parents and carers, building strong relationships between home and school. Working closely with Heads of Year and the wider pastoral team, the successful candidate will respond to day‑to‑day issues, address emerging concerns, and deliver targeted interventions to ensure students feel supported and are able to thrive both personally and academically.

The ideal candidate will be a positive and visible role model who can inspire and motivate young people while maintaining high expectations for behaviour and achievement. They will be an excellent communicator, able to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues, and will demonstrate resilience, organisation, and the ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment. They will have a solution‑focused mindset, the ability to remain calm under pressure, and a strong commitment to inclusion, teamwork, and ongoing professional development.

Hanley Castle is a dynamic and pleasantly situated high‑performing Academy, which is justifiably proud of its local and national reputation for academic excellence. Founded in 1326, the school provides a unique blend of academic rigour, modern facilities and traditional values. The school is heavily oversubscribed and our Sixth Form is flourishing. Hanley Castle High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and as such expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
