An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Head of Learning - Languages to join St Leonard’s College from Term 3, 2026.

As a member of the Academic Directorate, the Head of Learning - Languages will lead the Languages faculty with vision and a commitment to continuous improvement, working closely with the French, Chinese and Spanish Coordinators and other key staff to ensure a cohesive and high?quality Languages program across the College.

This pivotal leadership role provides the chance to shape the learning journey of students from Years 5-12, inspiring each learner to achieve their potential in a progressive and engaging environment. Strong pedagogical expertise, leadership capability, and exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills are essential for success.

This is a permanent, full-time teaching position, with the Head of Learning - Languages role offered with a 3-year tenure, as a position of responsibility. The Head of Learning - Languages role includes a time allocation and a monetary allowance, and an appropriate teaching subject allocation will be negotiated with the successful candidate.

To be successful in this opportunity, you will require:

  • Relevant teaching qualifications and registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Demonstrated outstanding classroom teaching skills across years 5 - 12.
  • Experience in teaching VCE or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) French and/or Spanish would be an advantage.
  • Contemporary knowledge of Languages curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
  • Knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and innovative use of ICT in the classroom to enrich learning.
  • Outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in planning programs and the management of budgets and resources.
  • Ability to lead a team and actively support and develop team members.
  • Well-developed planning, organisational and administrative skills.
  • Demonstrates a solutions-oriented approach to problem solving.
  • An active contributor to a collegial work environment.
  • Willingness to uphold the ethos and values of the College.
