GSL Education’s London Branch is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Head of Geography to join a supportive secondary school in Newham. About the Role:

As Head of Geography, you will take a leading role in shaping the geography curriculum and driving high-quality teaching and learning across the department. You will work closely with teaching staff to ensure students develop a strong understanding and appreciation of Geography, while supporting the school’s vision for academic excellence and student success. Responsibilities for Head of Geography:

Lead and manage the geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
Plan, develop, and review an engaging Geography curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and potentially 5.
Support and mentor Geography teachers within the department.
Monitor student progress and implement strategies to improve outcomes.
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity about the world.
Work collaboratively with senior leadership to support whole-school improvement.
Requirements for Head of Geography:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching Geography in a secondary school setting.
Previous leadership or middle leadership experience is highly desirable.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Ability to motivate staff and students while maintaining high professional standards.
Passion for Geography education and student achievement.
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
