Inclusive Community Sports Programme Coordinator

We are looking to recruit a part time Inclusive Community Sports Programme Coordinator to join the Newstart team at Portland College on a fixed term basis (one academic year). Under the guidance of the Newstart Activities and Theatre Programme Lead, you will be supporting the delivery of our ambitious and varied community activities programme. Specifically, the role will involve running and supervising some of our inclusive community sports programmes.
The focus of these activities will be participation and fun, encouraging healthy and active lifestyles and ensuring all people with disabilities have the opportunity to access sports and enrichment activities. The role also includes supervising and setting up for occasional private bookings in our Newstart Theatre and Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) on campus which enable us to fund our community programme.
When supervising, you will have overall responsibility for the booking, including all aspects of health and safety, staff and visitor conduct, safeguarding, logistics and site security.
We are looking for someone with excellent teamwork skills who is able to work well within a team as well as on their own initiative. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, energetic and passionate when working with young people. This role is on a part time and fixed term basis with an approximate end date of early 2027.

As this role will involve regulated activity with our learners and citizens, we are required to carry out a full enhanced with child and adult barred lists DBS check as part of our pre-employment checks.

Working Hours20 hours per week working mostly evenings and weekends – hours varied. Evening activities generally start at around 4:30pm onwards. Weekend hours are varied – 9:00am onwards. Hours and days can be further discussed at interview.
