Position: Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist-Maternity
Location: Botany Bay

Band 7 Speech and Language Therapy – Fixed Term 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours/week)

We are excited to offer a fixed term position until January 2027 to cover maternity leave in the School Age Speech and Language Team. The role is based in one of our schools in Enfield and involves working collaboratively with school staff to support speech, language and communication skills across the campus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Jointly develop and provide an effective highly specialist speech and language therapy service for children at West Lea School, a school for children aged 4‑19 with complex special needs.
  • Provide regular joint training to education staff or other members of the speech and language team.
  • Work collaboratively with children/young people, parents/carers and colleagues in Health, Education and Social Services to plan and deliver services.
  • Involve children and young people in setting goals and planning their care.
  • Advise on and support the use of informal assessment methods within the classroom.
  • Analyse and interpret assessment results to inform intervention planning and curriculum access.
  • Plan and deliver appropriate intervention programmes within the classroom in collaboration with education staff.

Person Specification Education & Professional Qualifications (Essential)
  • Recognised speech and language therapy degree or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Health Care Professions Council for Licence to Practice.
  • Registered member of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
Personal Qualities & Attributes (Essential)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Well‑developed knowledge of informal assessment methods within the classroom.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret results in relation to theoretical and clinical knowledge of individual clients, developmental norms and curriculum levels.
  • Ability to plan and deliver appropriate intervention programmes within the classroom in collaboration with education staff.
